What is Arbitration?
When you have a dispute with another person and it appears that the matter cannot be resolved then arbitration is one of the options you have to arrive at a solution. Arbitration is an agreed procedure that helps those parties who are in dispute to seek a resolution by putting their case before a person known as an "arbitrator".
Arbitration is different from a court procedure in that a dispute is before an arbitrator rather than before a court of law. The process involves an arbitrator hearing evidence from parties to the dispute and then issuing a decision, known as an award, that sets out who receives what. That award cannot be reviewed by a court and there is no right of appeal.
