Confidentiality is Critical

Confidentiality and your Business Plan go together
The last thing you want is for someone else to steal your ideas and beat you to the market because they have been able to go through your business plan in detail. You should not show your business plan to anyone unless they have signed a non-disclosure agreement and you have also investigated that they are not potential or existing competitors.

The other point is that people will jump into being involved in any area where profit is to be made. If your idea is viable or your product is unique then people who enquire may want to copy it themselves without being involved with you.

Limit the circulation of your business plan and clearly state on the cover page that the document is strictly confidential and must not be duplicated or photocopied. You can have a brief business plan that does not go into the details of your business, which can be handed out to initial enquiries. When those enquiries want to obtain further, more detailed information, then they can be given the full business plan after signing confidentiality or non-disclosure agreements.
